How to verify any quant trading result: a 7-step checklist
A practical checklist to test any trading bot, signal service or backtest before you trust it with real money, including ours.
Whether you are looking at a trading bot, a signal group or a fund report, the same questions separate solid results from marketing. Use this checklist on anyone's numbers. We built Arrissa REX 9 AI with this list in mind.
- 1Real tick data with the spread
- 2Costs and slippage included
- 3Drawdown measured every minute
- 4Fixed lots, no compounding
- 5Hundreds of trades, many years
- 6Out-of-sample and start-date tests
- 7Forward results on a demo
1. Real data with the spread
Results should come from tick data with real bid and ask prices, not one price per bar. Otherwise entries and stops are filled at prices nobody could have traded.
2. All costs included
Spread, slippage, commission and swap. Ask what was assumed for each.
3. Drawdown measured every minute
The deepest dip must include open trades. Closed-trade drawdown can understate the real pain several times over.
4. Fixed lots
Compounding hides the edge inside growing position sizes. Ask for fixed-lot results.
5. Enough trades over enough time
Hundreds of trades across several years, rising and falling markets, quiet and busy periods.
6. Out-of-sample and start-date tests
Was the strategy checked on data it was not built on? Does it hold up from many start dates, not just one?
7. Forward results
Real-time results, even on a demo, are the best proof of all. That is why every Arrissa REX 9 AI user starts with a free $10,000 simulated demo, and why our backtest grows every day with new market data.
Red flags
- Only win rate is shown, never drawdown.
- Monthly returns that never have a losing month.
- Screenshots instead of full trade lists.
- Results that start right before a big trend.
